TEXT: JEREMIAH 4:1-6
Key Verse : “For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns” (Jeremiah 4:3).

One of the greatest attributes of God is His goodness. As a good and loving father, we can rely on Him in every situation of life. His goodness is manifested in his tender mercies that are new every morning.

God is merciful and his mercy endures forever. Although Israel has been a sinning nation, always going contrary to the express command of God, the Almighty has consistently showed His love and mercy towards them. Each time they rebelled, He would plead with them to return to Him. The Almighty God also urged Judah and Jerusalem to break up their fallow ground. This also is an express call to every believer today. It is a call for all the professors of faith in Christ Jesus to shake off all lethargy, all encumbrances that compete for their love and service to the true God. He urges believers to make themselves spiritually presentable to Him.

Our God does not punish any erring believer without prior warning. He exhausts all efforts to reconcile with every prodigal son. He only allows destruction to come when such a person wilfully spurns all His overtures.

Many people now take God’s invitation for granted. But no matter what they do, their refusal to appropriate divine  love freely offered to them does not change God’s attributes. Believers who might have left their first love still have the opportunity today to return to the Fountain of life. Will you heed His call today?

Thought for the Day : It is sheer folly to harden the heart when God calls.
