Higher Everyday: Optical Illussion

Thursday, October 25, 2012 Posted by Unknown ,
"... and the sun shone upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water on the other side as red as blood." (2Kings 3:22)

Optical illusion is a false visual perception. It is a way of looking at something that is not really there. For example, if you travel in the countryside on a hot sunny afternoon and there is no traffic ahead, you are likely to see “water” on the road in front. As you move closer to the “water” you will find it receding. That is optical illusion. It is also referred to as a mirage.
The Bible text today tells us the false perception of the Moabites on this particular day that they came to fight Israel. What was actually before them was water, but what they “saw” was "blood". Optical illusion. What they saw resulted in fear that eventually led to their defeat. Many young boys and girls today suffer from this same affliction. Young people who suffer from visual illusion see success without labour. Youngsters see good grades ahead even though they watch video films and television shows more than they read their books. Optical illusion is not real. Only those who give themselves to diligence and hard work will get to the top.

Challenge: To work hard is the way to success.

Prayer: Help me Lord to work with the strength of my youth.
