                             ABSALOM’S TWO-FACED ADMONITION

"And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?"  2 Samuel 16:17

As bad and immoral as the rebellious Absalom has become, he still remembered the need for loyalty among friends. Even though he failed to show loyalty to his own father, he expected Hushai to be loyal to David. Indeed that is what it should be. Friends should be loyal, lovely and faithful to one another. Jonathan demonstrated his faithfulness to David by damning the anger of his father. David too repaid his friend Jonathan's kindness by granting the physically challenged Mephibosheth (Jonathan’s son) opportunity to dine at his table.

As you think of the challenge of Absalom to Hushai, apply the situation to your relationship with the Lord Jesus. Are you faithful to Jesus, your friend and Saviour? Do you spend quality time with Him every day? Have you talked with Him today? Did you go out of your way to add value to your friendship with Jesus by doing all the things that friendship demands? Absalom can preach what he did not practice. You must not. Therefore, be a faithful friend of Jesus every time and everyday of your life.

Challenge: Friendship is two minds in one body.

Prayer: Help me Lord to be a faithful friend.
