TEXT: EXODUS 16:22-31

KEY VERSE: “And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning” (Exodus 16:23).

The children of Israel had been in and out of troubles. They had experienced God’s readiness to protect, deliver and provide. He had never disappointed them, not once. Yet, they never failed to fear each time trouble came their way.

In our text, despite the fact that they were forewarned never to go out on the Sabbath day to look for manna, some of them still went. They suffered from fear and anxiety; they doubted the possibility of having enough for the day if they did not go out. All they needed to do was simply to act as Moses had directed according to the instruction given to him by God. By disobeying God, they incurred His wrath and attracted punishment to themselves.

Holding on to God’s word concerning our lives is the most effective and lethal weapon we can use to silence the voice of discouragement, doubt and fear. Without His word, you do not have a defined destiny. His word, spoken into your life, seals it all. If you keep on believing in the ability of His word to deliver and to provide no matter the circumstances, your strength will be re-invigorated on a daily basis as you keep moving forward and trusting.

Today, we are on a journey to heaven just as the children of Israel were to Canaan. But many believers fret about meagre resources at their disposal. They seem to have forgotten that God has made abundant provision all the way. When we begin to entertain fear, discouragement will set in. The greatest threat to a believer’s success is fear of failure. And until you conquer fear, you cannot conquer your enemy. Your success story will start today if you can only obey and fear not.
