TEXT: PROVERBS 4:1-13
Key Verse : “Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life” (Proverbs 4:13).
A story was told of a very rich man who in his will, gave different gifts to many people. To his beloved son, he gave only a small parcel, neatly wrapped. At the sight of the estates given to others, he reacted negatively to the perceived insensitivity of his dead father. He rejected the parcel and in rebellion, refused to even touch it. Thereafter, he lived a life of lack, loss and limitations. After many months and out of desperation, he took a look at the parcel. Inside it was a Bible. He started reading it and suddenly stumbled upon the passage under reference today, “Get wisdom, get understanding, forsake her not”. As he continued to study the Word of God, he discovered that embedded in the covers were the instructions of the father that transformed his life from being a disgruntled pauper to a wealthy person.
The passage today enumerates the blessings and benefits of getting wisdom and instructions from the Lord. The word of God is replete with God’s marvelous riches and grace. The irony is that many so-called believers hardly appreciate the vast resources embedded in Scripture because of their refusal to read, study and meditate on God’s word. If we are to possess the real success which combines the temporal with the eternal, we must come to terms with the Scripture.
God is the source of all good things. All gifts are from Him and are received through maintaining a proper relationship with Him. If you refuse to open the parcel your heavenly Father has given to you, you are living a life of lack, loss and limitation. Go ahead today, commit your life to Him. It will be the best decision you ever made.
Thought for the Day : Find out what your Father has bequeathed to you.
