Daily Manna: Peace Through Justification

TEXT: ROMANS 5:1-11

Key Verse :“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1).

D.L. Moody once submitted that  “it has been said peace have five enemies: envy, avarice, ambition, anger and pride. But all sin disturb our peace. Yet, if anyone turns from sin and tries to please God, He promises that He will make his enemies to be at peace with him (Proverbs 16:7).

Ensuring peace round the globe had been the greatest headache of world leaders. Billions of resources had been spent without any noticeable progress. For example, since 1919, the nations of Europe have signed more than 200 treaties of peace. Each treaty simply became another scrap of paper, broken more easily.

Our text reveals the only source of world peace: “Justification through faith in our Lord Jesus”. A sinner is an enemy of God and there is no peace for the wicked. This is the bane of world peace because all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). A man that does not have peace with God cannot broker peace with fellow mankind.

The truth which must be embraced by all, irrespective of race, colour or culture is that “God commendeth His love toward us in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” Man will never have peace within himself if he continues to reject the provision of peace brokered by the death of Jesus Christ on the Cross. Jesus died so that the world can be reconciled back to God. For if when we were enemies “we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” Genuine repentance and faith in the vicarious death of Christ will remove guilt and bring peace.

Thought for the day : The world will remain in crisis without Christ.
