TEXT: ESTHER 3:7-15
Key Verse : “And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed” (Esther 3:15).
Haman and Ahasuerus were two of a kind in the Medo-Persian empire. Haman was a right hand man of the king. He hated the Jews and wanted them destroyed. What could such a frivolous heart think of, if not only evil? As his hatred for the Jews grew, he thought of an ingenious plan to destroy them all over the domain of Ahasuerus. He obtained authority from the king, issued a decree in the king’s name to order the killing of Jews all over the realm on a particular day. Satisfied, Haman began to have fun as he sat down to drink with the king. But unknown to him, God was working to upturn his wicked devices against His people. Haman ultimately lost his life on the long run.
Before condemning Haman, check to see if you are not guilty of ungodly orders, instructions on those working with you or under you. How are you dealing with your children, servants, spouse, or workers? How do you treat your domestic helps?
It is important that you measure your actions in the light of God’s word so that you will not be guilty of the same offence like Haman. God does not respect the person of men.
Thought for the Day : Remember Haman’s end.
